Stillorgan Taekwon-Do Rocked

Stillorgan Taekwon-Do School were the gallant losers when they took on Carrick-on-Suir Taekwon-Do in a recent friendly inter-school competition.  The tournament which was held at St Laurence’s Community Centre, Kilmacud was a spill over from the school’s five year celebrations last year and developed from friendly relations with the Tipperary school.

The tournament comprised 3 events; patterns, sparring and power breaking.  In the patterns event, Stillorgan’s green tag team (Laura Murphy, Vanessa Caminiti and Edmond Veale) and green belt team (Sam Casey, Rowan Brennan and Tina Kavanagh) earned valuable points by winning their sections while the Carrick-on-Suir teams won the other 4 sections.  Strong performances from Sorcha Ennis and brothers Gareth and Jonathon Lyons from Stillorgan resulted in a tie in the sparring event. In the power breaking event Stephen O’Donnell and Sorcha Ennis secured another tie for Stillorgan with powerful techniques.  The overall score showed Carrick-on-Suir with 25 points and Stillorgan just lagging behind with 19 points.
